In a few months, a new region for exploration will be added to the game.
The developers of Genshin Impact held a special stream, To Snezhnaya and the Future (or "Genshin Impact Development Stories: To Snezhnaya and the Future"), and spoke about the new region from the 7.x update lineup.
miHoYo (HoYoverse) spoke about an important design principle the Genshin developers follow — the game should "simultaneously create a sense of familiarity and fantasy."
According to the developers, Snezhnaya has similarities with Eastern Europe. This region may remind players of the film "Snowpiercer," and trains will be seen there:
Instead of recreating some real country or region one-to-one, we prefer to take cultural elements from different sources that also resonate with one another, and reassemble them into a unified whole. Overall, Snezhnaya is located in a rather cold and harsh climate. It has similarities with real-life Eastern Europe and regions adjacent to the Arctic Circle. In those lands, people quite literally carved their homes out of snow and ice using fire and steel. We took the unique cultural traits of real regions as a foundation and brought this image to life in the game. But in addition to cultural motifs from the real world, we also added many unique fantasy reinterpretations found only in Teyvat. For example, when it comes to Snezhnaya, the "snow-covered land," Travelers may have associations with the iconic film "Snowpiercer."

The release of the Genshin Impact 7.0 update is scheduled for August 12, 2026. Players will be able to find out why the Archons gave their Gnosis to Snezhnaya so easily.
