Nothing in graphics comes for free: hardware load is one of the key problems of the Anvil engine, but not the only one. Ray tracing produces strong image noise, which is why Ubisoft uses aggressive noise reduction, reducing image clarity and making the image less detailed compared to solutions without it.
In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, on the same engine, there is dense, detailed vegetation with realistic wind reaction, but dynamic lighting works unstably and often looks mediocre in shadows. Ubisoft does not plan to abandon ray tracing in Anvil, so such compromises in image quality may carry over to Black Flag Resynced.
