Resident Evil Requiem Lost to Unexpected Nintendo Hit in France

The market sometimes surprises in the most unexpected ways. When a major series like Resident Evil and a niche Nintendo project are side-by-side, many immediately assume who will emerge victorious.

However, such situations show that players can go against expectations – especially if a series returns at the right time.

We are talking about Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, which, according to French journalist Oscar Lemaire, had the best physical launch of 2026 in France. The game surpassed Resident Evil Requiem, which previously held the lead. The exact sales of the new Tomodachi Life have not yet been disclosed, but according to Lemaire's previous data, Resident Evil Requiem launched with about 70 thousand copies – meaning the new Nintendo title exceeded this figure.

Such a result speaks volumes. Not only about Nintendo's strength, but also about how its projects penetrate specific markets, even if they don't seem like obvious sales leaders.
