Xbox is going through a difficult period, and even a change in CEO has not improved the situation. A few days ago, a new project from Double Fine Productions, known for Psychonauts 2, which was nominated for "Game of the Year" in 2021, was released on PC and consoles.
Their new title, Keeper, failed: the peak online player count was only 191, and interest in Game Pass was minimal. Despite good reviews, the project went almost unnoticed.
The situation is even worse for the studio's next game – Kiln. This is an online project, but on Steam, a maximum of 193 people played it simultaneously. According to gamalytic, about 2 thousand users bought the game on the platform. If consoles are added, the total result can hardly be estimated higher than 10 thousand copies.
After two consecutive unsuccessful releases, Double Fine Productions may be under threat of possible personnel decisions within Xbox.
