Sony Interactive Entertainment engineers, after updating the PS5 Pro, revealed the potential of improved PSSR 2.0. It allows developers to better balance image quality and performance, maintaining stable FPS.

At GDC, a tech demo of F1 25 running on PS5 Pro with full path tracing was shown. The game ran at 30 FPS at a base resolution of 1080p, scaled up to 4K via PSSR.

The regular path tracing mode on the console yielded about 20 FPS, but EA applied its proprietary "EA SEED ORCA" technology to boost performance to 30 FPS.

It is noted that this is not yet a confirmed feature for the final version of the game, but rather a technological demonstration of capabilities. An analysis of the presentation is expected from Digital Foundry.

If such solutions begin to be used in future games, console graphics modes could reach a new level.
