According to insiders, Nintendo is preparing two games in the Fox McCloud universe. The information came from French journalist Oscar Lemaire, and was later confirmed by other sources, including NateTheHate.
Rumor has it that the first project is an online spin-off with an emphasis on aerial combat, scheduled for release in 2026. The second – a full-fledged single-player installment – is expected to be released in 2027. However, some players believe that it might be one game with different modes.
After the lukewarm reception of Star Fox Zero on Wii U in 2016, the series was effectively shelved. Interest recently returned after Fox's appearance in "The Super Mario Bros. Movie."
Leaks also suggest that the new single-player installment will feature a more developed storyline. This is a response to criticism of Star Fox Zero, where the story was delivered through gameplay-interrupting messages rather than full cutscenes.
