Hollow Knight competitor released on consoles. Metroidvania Constance launched on PS5, Xbox, and Switch
The metroidvania market is oversaturated, but Hollow Knight's success shows that there's still room for new projects. Constance is one of them.
A small game from bildundtonfabrik achieved notable success on Steam and gathered its audience. Currently, the project has over 66 thousand copies sold and 2250 reviews, 82% of which are positive. It's not a direct competitor to Hollow Knight, but after Team Cherry's games, it's worth paying attention to.
Since May 1st, the game has been released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, as well as Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
Constance is a hand-drawn story that is closer in mood to Celeste than to classic metroidvanias. There are no radically new ideas in the gameplay, but the game offers a pleasant combat system and exploration. There's a chance that over time, the project will grow into a larger series.
