PS6 with a strong focus on AI. Sony is already developing games for the next generation - leak
Sony has yet to confirm work on the PS6, but insiders claim the console is in an advanced stage of development.
The MP1ST editorial team shared new details about the console. Some information had already appeared earlier, but journalists confirmed several key points indicating active development.
Sony is simultaneously working on projects for current and new generations. This refers to AAA assets (2D and 3D) that will be released on PS5 and PS6. This hints at cross-gen games at launch, similar to the transition from PS4 to PS5. The company is also developing “communication applications for the new generation” and improving streaming with multitasking.
Among the projects is a new AAA game: an immersive third-person horror game on Unreal Engine 5. Advanced progression and motion capture are mentioned, but the name and studio are not disclosed. There are speculations about a connection with Firesprite, without confirmation.
Sony is actively investing in the cloud. The streaming infrastructure for next-gen has been developed for 3–4 years with a focus on PCIe Gen5 NVMe – this is up to twice as fast as current Gen4.
- Gen4: 7500/7000 MB/s (read/write);
- Gen5: 14,900/14,000 MB/s.
AI will be a key part of PS6. After PSSR, the company is strengthening machine learning. One specialist worked on “frame interpolation flow for the next-generation PlayStation platform,” which hints not only at upscaling but also improved fluidity.
Sony is betting not only on power but also on technologies for real-time graphics enhancement. The company is looking for AI specialists, preparing new tools specifically for PS6.
Everything indicates that Sony is not just working on PS6, but is already preparing games and technologies for it.
