Scandal around Spiders - GreedFall Developers Left with Nothing

Spiders studio, known for GreedFall, Steelrising, and GreedFall 2, is being liquidated. Officially, the reasons cited are lack of profitability and no buyout offers, but the French trade union STJV describes the situation differently.

According to the union, the fate of 71 employees was decided not by “market conditions” but by the “calculating, incompetent, and malicious will” of Nacon's management.

According to the statement, after acquiring the studio in 2019, Nacon built a toxic model: the publisher became the owner, manager, and sole client.

  • No royalties: developers allegedly did not receive a share of sales;
  • Asset control: funds effectively transferred to Nacon;
  • Market isolation: the studio was forbidden from working with other publishers.

The union calls Spiders an “empty shell” — a structure within the corporation that can be closed at any moment.

Problems escalated last year when Nacon canceled the “Dark” project without explanation. After this, the studio had no contracts for the period after the release of GreedFall 2.

Even during judicial restructuring, according to the managers, Nacon did not try to conclude a new agreement. Management ignored employee warnings about the company's condition.

STJV calls for a boycott of the publisher. The reason is that employees will not receive income from sales of the games they worked on.

The statement reads:

We refuse to watch as the group responsible for the sudden end of Spiders plunders the still-warm body of our workplaces.
