Dream Team? New Star Wars Game Made by Renowned RPG Developers

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, shown at The Game Awards 2025, has been positioned as a "spiritual successor" to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic since its announcement. New details about the Arcanaut Studios team only heighten the interest.

The project is led by Casey Hudson, creator of the first KOTOR and the Mass Effect trilogy. He has assembled a team of BioWare veterans with whom he has worked for the past 20 years.

The studio's roster reads like a list of key figures from classic role-playing games:

  • Chris Bain and Ryan Hoyle (studio co-founders);
  • Dan Fessenden (game design for Dragon Age: Inquisition);
  • Caroline Livingston (voice acting for Mass Effect and Dragon Age);
  • Melanie Falknor (BioWare producer).

Art director Pascal Blanche, who worked on Assassin’s Creed and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction, has also joined the team. His experience is expected to give the game a darker sci-fi style.

The developers clarify: Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic will not be a continuation of known stories. It is an entirely new storyline with new characters.
