Square Enix Surprised by Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Sales on Switch 2
Square Enix's decision to release the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2 proved successful. Director Naoki Hamaguchi stated in an interview that pre-orders for the game on Nintendo's new console are going "extremely well."
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S on June 3, 2026. Previously, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade was released on Nintendo's console, and it seems players received it warmly.
Hamaguchi noted that he wanted to give Switch 2 owners the opportunity to get acquainted with the series before the release of the third part of the trilogy. According to him, pre-order results show that interest in the franchise among the Nintendo audience is high.
However, Square Enix has not yet decided how to release the third part of the trilogy. Hamaguchi admitted that the company is still discussing whether the game will be released simultaneously on all platforms or if some versions will be delayed.
He emphasized that this is not just about logistics, but a strategic decision for the entire series and new players. Currently, Square Enix is avoiding specific statements.
