Switch 2 will get more expensive in autumn - Nintendo announced new prices
Nintendo announced a massive price increase for Nintendo Switch 2 family consoles and the Nintendo Switch Online service.
The company explained the decision by changes in the market situation and unstable global forecasts. In Japan, new prices will come into effect as early as May 25, 2026. For example, the Nintendo Switch OLED model will increase in price by 10,000 yen (about 69 dollars).
For other countries, the increase is scheduled for September 1, 2026. In the US, the price of Switch 2 will rise from 449 to 499 dollars. In Europe, the console in the My Nintendo Store will increase from 469 to 499 euros.
Nintendo confirmed that similar changes will affect other regions. Local divisions of the company will reveal details later.
From July 1, 2026, Nintendo Switch Online will also become more expensive. In Japan, the cost of an annual individual subscription will increase from 2400 to 3000 yen (approximately from 17 to 21 dollars), and a family plan – from 4500 to 5800 yen (approximately from 31 to 40 dollars). The Expansion Pack will also become more expensive.
The company also revised prices for classic goods such as Hanafuda cards and playing decks, citing rising material costs.
Nintendo apologized to users and asked for understanding regarding "difficult market conditions".
