Russian Voice-Over Demo for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Released
Players can evaluate the quality of the voice-over while localizers finalize preparations for the full release.
In early May, the "KotOR Russian Project" community announced that work on the Russian voice-over for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic had entered its final stage:
We plan and hope that in the next two months we will be able to finalize everything and present the localization to the public. The game is very large and has a huge variety of dialogues. Two genders, two sides, and dozens of unique dialogue branches that are triggered only by correctly selecting a particular dialogue line. 95 percent of the game is voiced. Only small recording sessions for female dialogue options remain. And all the flaws that we will discover during testing.
Currently, the localizers are engaged in testing, sound processing, re-timing subtitles to match the recorded audio, and "correcting all technical issues related to timings and lines for the female protagonist."
However, players already have the opportunity to evaluate the Russian voice-over for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – the localizers have released a free demo version:
We want to invite everyone interested to help us with testing, and at the same time, brighten up the already prolonged wait. For testing, we decided to allocate two fully voiced locations: Endar Spire and the planet Taris. These locations will be sufficient to initially assess the functionality of the game's localization on a large sample of players and check how the introduced timing corrections work, as well as the separation into male/female lines. In turn, you will be able to evaluate the quality of our work.
