On social media, the mode is being compared to Ethan Must Die from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – not in favor of the new addition.
Players also complain about gameplay decisions. For example, Leon's axe now breaks and cannot be repaired. Because of this, some users encountered enemies that could only be damaged by parrying, without the ability to defend themselves.
Part of the community believes that Capcom should have abandoned Leon Must Die Forever and directed resources towards the Mercenaries mode.
