Oskar Lundberg, Head of Esports, spoke about the plans. According to him, this is just the beginning of a larger plan. The studio wants to build a full-fledged tournament system for THE FINALS with regular competitions, support for esports organizations, and professional teams.
The main event will be The Grand Major 2026 tournament during DreamHack Stockholm. This will be the largest competition in the game's history with a prize pool of $200,000. The developers also promise an open qualification system for teams from all over the world.
Embark is not going to abandon THE FINALS even after the success of ARC Raiders. The studio is developing both games simultaneously, gradually discontinuing support for older platforms like PS4 for more extensive updates for the current generation of consoles.
Players generally welcomed the news, but some of the community believes that THE FINALS still needs improvements in balance, matchmaking, and the ranking system.
