This was revealed by PlayStation Vice President Christian Svensson, who is responsible for working with external studios and publishers. In an interview, he emphasized that Sony treats indie games and large AAA projects equally. According to him, indies are "a great addition to the diversity and breadth of the catalog" that PlayStation wants to offer players.
I don't want to diminish the work of our funding team. In this generation, we have fully or partially funded over 120 projects.
Importantly, this figure does not include the Hero Project program, an initiative to support individual studios from China, India, and Africa. Sony also has a special fund for independent developers, operating on a non-repayable model: some small games are released on PlayStation without the need to return funds.
