Three-hour Mixtape loses its title as one of the highest-rated games of 2026
After its release, Mixtape was hailed by many publications as a contender for "Game of the Year" and one of the best in recent years, but new reviews have sharply lowered the project's overall rating.
The main complaints about Mixtape were its short duration — about 3-3.5 hours — and its almost complete linearity. Unlike Don't Nod projects, the game does not offer alternative story paths.
Just a few days ago, Mixtape topped the OpenCritic rating, but now the average score has dropped to 87 out of 100. Cubed3 gave the game 4/10, calling it "incredibly boring and pretentious." A similar complaint was voiced by PC Gamer, which rated the project 7.4/10. The reviewer noted that the game literally plays itself — even in sections with action elements, you can simply put down the gamepad.
Mixtape currently ranks ninth among the highest-rated games of 2026 on OpenCritic, sharing the position with Saros.
The rating is also falling on Metacritic — the PlayStation 5 version is currently holding at 8.5/10. Users, however, rated the game significantly lower: the average score of user reviews is 6.3/10.
