In 2024, Roskomnadzor (RKN) added "Romance Club" to the register of prohibited resources. At that time, the developers, at the request of the agency, restricted access to the application in stores on the territory of the Russian Federation. RKN's claims were related to the dissemination of content prohibited in the Russian Federation.

At that time, the creators of the visual novel wrote that the company's values and the essence of the stories "do not allow this content to be removed." However, in May 2026, they presented a separate regional version of the game.

The developers in the "Romance Club" community on VK explained why they decided to restore the application's availability in the Russian Federation:

Ultimately, our goal is to provide interactive stories for every player in the world. We are also obliged to comply with the laws of the territory where we provide content if we want to remain accessible to players in that region. In 2024, when we ceased access to Romance Club in the Russian Federation, we simply had no solution or understanding of how to continue providing interactive story content in accordance with local laws. Over time, we found such a solution, and it took us some time to implement it.

They separately noted that this does not mean abandoning their values: "Regional differences are a technical solution, not a change in our values."

In the Russian build of "Romance Club," stories with content that does not comply with the laws of the Russian Federation will be unavailable. According to the developers, this and the international versions of the game will receive updates on the same day.

The Russian version of the game will have a separate "Hall of Fame" compared to the international build.
