Came to their senses: KONAMI leaves Russia and Belarus - gamers warned about service termination
The decisions of the Japanese company continue to surprise players.
Recently, players remembered KONAMI again. The reason was not a fresh release or announcement, but an announcement about leaving Russia and Belarus.
The company has not sold its games in Russia for a long time, but still supports its service. Players from sanctioned regions were warned that support would soon cease:
Notice of termination of service in Russia and Belarus: Thank you for using KONAMI ID. We are terminating services in Russia and Belarus from Monday, June 15, 2026. This notice only concerns the termination of services in Russia and Belarus; there will be no changes to operations in other regions.
"KONAMI ID" is positioned as a unique identifier that allows gamers to use online services provided by the KONAMI group.
For example, KONAMI has online projects such as: the football simulator eFootball, a line of collectible card games based on the "Yu-Gi-Oh!" franchise (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links and Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel), the baseball simulator eBaseball: PRO SPIRIT, and many others.
Gamers from Russia and Belarus fear losing access to games completely. On the eFootball website and in the games themselves, similar notifications about the imminent termination of service for players from these regions are appearing.
