Recently, the creator of an unofficial remake of Need for Speed: Underground 2 published new footage online. He uses the modern Unreal Engine 5 for his work.

The author of the YouTube channel "2Unreal5Underground" demonstrated the progress over the past few weeks. The developer noted that artificial intelligence can still "do strange things" sometimes, but he managed to fix many problems.

Road traffic generally works, and you can challenge opponents in the open world:

Traffic and opponents in the open world spawn around the player — you can race with them in free roam as well as in career mode. There are still hundreds of small details that need to be refined and fixed, but the task list is gradually shrinking every day.

The video from "2Unreal5Underground" is available at the following link. The developer uses a Nissan 350Z for the demonstration.

There is no release date yet for the full version of the Need for Speed: Underground 2 remake on UE5. New footage sometimes appears online from the developer 2Unreal5Underground himself or from other community members who are testing the project.
