Renowned insider Tom Henderson recently revealed a new project from 1047 Games, the studio previously known for the multiplayer portal shooter Splitgate. It's called Empulse and "will apparently be a spiritual successor to Titanfall."
Henderson's sources, on condition of anonymity, sent him gameplay footage from the game's pre-alpha version. In it, he saw players battling in Team Deathmatch mode, using grappling hooks, wall-running, and boosters to move even faster across the map during the match.
Another mechanic draws particular attention: giant robots are scattered across the map, which players can use in combat. In the video provided to the insider, he saw a player climb inside a robot and begin to "dominate the match" with a machine gun. This robot model could also use a shield for defense against enemies and a rocket launcher. It is not yet clear whether other robots will have different abilities/weapons.
Tom Henderson recalled that earlier this year, 1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx stated that a small team was developing a new shooter with movement elements, "inspired by Titanfall and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3."
