Recently, the authors of the Heroes 5 Reborn project released a new development diary. Modders continue to port Heroes of Might & Magic V to the modern Unreal Engine 5.

They announced that they have integrated a “skill wheel” into the game — with this system, it will be easier for players to learn skills and build a character:

The system for learning skills and building a character in the fifth “Heroes” is quite complex due to the large number of secondary skills and the connections between them. For the convenience of players, we decided to add a skill wheel, displaying all these connections, directly into the game, which will greatly help players when planning a build and leveling up a hero.

The modders explained that their wheel is “directly integrated with the current hero's progression,” and when opened, it will immediately pick up the current build and display it. Already learned skills will have colored icons, and unlearned skills are marked with gray icons:

Skills and abilities that can no longer be learned, because the hero has taken a different progression path, become transparent. When you hover over any skill, you can see its description on the right, and all dependent skills will be highlighted, along with arrows showing the connections between them.

For the player's convenience, when opening the “skill wheel” during a level up, all skills and abilities offered for progression will be immediately highlighted on the wheel.

There is no release date yet for the fan remake of Heroes of Might & Magic V.
