Instead of releasing F1 26, the developers will transfer the 2026 Formula 1 season to last year's game as a paid add-on, the 2026 Season Pack.

The trailer and details of the DLC will be shown on May 20. The next full installment of the series is now expected only in 2027.

Lewis Hamilton, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Valtteri Bottas will appear on the promotional art for the add-on.

The DLC will add updated cars, new engineering teams, and technical regulations for the 2026 season.

The new rules have already caused a wave of criticism among drivers. Fernando Alonso ironically called modern Formula 1 "the world championship of batteries." Lando Norris stated that the cars went "from the best and most enjoyable in history to probably the worst to drive." And Max Verstappen joked that he gave up his professional simulator for Mario Kart on Nintendo Switch.
