007 First Light discs reached players a week before release, but there should be no spoilers - developers prepared
Getting a copy of 007 First Light is only half the battle; it's impossible to launch the game illegally.
The official release of 007 First Light is scheduled to take place in a few days. However, reports have started to appear online that some people have already received physical copies of the new game about the adventures of young James Bond.
This is far from the first time that discs have "leaked" before launch. Usually, in such situations, players have to refrain from visiting social networks or set up filters to avoid accidentally stumbling upon a post with spoilers for the plot and game content. However, 007 First Light has a peculiar "protection" against leaks.
Players recalled that a few weeks ago, IO Interactive held a stream answering community questions. In particular, the topic of "connecting to the network" was touched upon. The developers then said that playing 007 First Light does not require always being online, but players will still need to connect once to download the first patch. After installing the update, it will be possible to play offline.
The regular release of 007 First Light is scheduled for May 27, but those who pre-ordered will be able to start playing 24 hours earlier — on the 26th.
