The developers have prepared improvements for the main game and the War Sails DLC.

In May, the creators of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord released a major update 1.4.5 for the main game, as well as update 1.2.5 for the War Sails expansion. The updates included not only various technical fixes but also new features and improvements. On consoles, the updates are currently undergoing certification, with release expected in early June.

Naval raids on coastal settlements have been added to War Sails. Fleets can now enter such locations to trade, resupply, and recruit troops, and it will also be possible to undermine the enemy's economy – by striking coastal settlements from the sea or along rivers.

In addition, diplomacy has been refined. Now, kingdoms without common borders will no longer wage war. According to the developers' vision, this should "reduce the number of wars that exist only on paper." The system of trade agreements and alliances has been expanded – factors such as existing diplomatic ties, settlement culture, and inter-factional marriages are now taken into account.

The developers also improved artificial intelligence – AI lords will act more frequently on water, for example, during war, enemies will more actively seek ports, attack convoys, and ships.

The game now allows players to hand over ship control to the crew, during which time the player can freely move around the vessel.
