Nintendo plans to sharply increase production of the Nintendo Switch 2 and bring up to 20 million devices to market by the end of the current fiscal year, which is March 31, 2027, Bloomberg reports. Despite price increases, the company is betting on high demand.
According to the report, the new production targets significantly exceed Nintendo's own official forecasts, which projected about 16.5 million consoles shipped during the same period.
Experts are surprised by the scale of these plans amidst the upcoming price increase. As of September 1, the console's price in Europe will rise by 30 euros, reaching 499.99 euros.
Similar price adjustments will affect the US and Japan. The reason cited is the component market crisis: growing demand for memory from AI data centers has increased production costs.
Nevertheless, if Nintendo manages to implement the entire planned volume, total Switch 2 sales by March 2027 could approach 40 million units. The company is confident in stable demand and market support.
