Unlike SimCity and other city-building games, Life Below offers to build cities not from artificial structures, but based on the oceanic ecosystem. Players will have to create huge coral reefs that will become home to various marine creatures, both real and fictional.

The developers stated that they consulted with marine biologists to more accurately convey the structure of the underwater world. Judging by the trailer, the game relies on an unusual visual style.

Megapop also collaborates with the Whale and Dolphin Conservation organization. A separate charity pack will be released for the game. It will include three new species of marine animals: bottlenose dolphin, Atlantic spotted dolphin, and harbor porpoise. Proceeds from sales will go to support marine mammals.

Life Below will be released on May 26, 2026. A demo version is available on Steam.
