Yacht Club Games explained why Mina the Hollower was priced at only $19.99.

The creators of Shovel Knight stated that they want to make the game an "instant purchase" for players amidst a difficult economic situation and high competition in the market.

In an interview with RPG Site, studio co-founder Sean Velasco said that the team deliberately chose a low price for the new game – $19.99:

We priced the game to sell a lot of copies. We understand that people are under financial pressure today, and there are a huge number of great games coming out. We wanted Mina to feel like a no-brainer purchase.

Mina the Hollower is called the most ambitious project in the history of Yacht Club Games. The game has been in development for over six years, and the creators themselves previously said that the project was a "make or break" situation for the studio.

The new game is inspired by classic The Legend of Zelda for Game Boy Color, as well as Castlevania and Bloodborne. Players can expect over 29 bosses, character progression, world exploration, and retro aesthetics.

Mina the Hollower will be released on May 29, 2026, on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. The upgrade from Switch to Switch 2 will be free.
