South of Midnight, an Xbox Game Studios title, won at the Canadian Game Awards 2026. At a less widely publicized ceremony, the project left no chance for competitors, especially after its recent release on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
The game, released in April 2025 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, received a total of six awards. The main one was "Game of the Year."
South of Midnight won in the following categories:
- Game of the Year
- Best Console Game
- Best Story
- Best Art Direction
- Best Original Soundtrack
- Best Sound Design
Compulsion Games studio was also recognized, being named "Studio of the Year."
Despite Xbox Game Studios' dominance, other projects also received awards: Assassin’s Creed Shadows won in the "Best Accessibility" category, Battlefield 6 was named the best PC game, and Hell is Us received an award for best game design.
