The creators of the ambitious space simulator Star Citizen continue to offer players various ways to support the project's development. In May, the fundraising amount already exceeded one billion dollars, and the flow of donations continues. Reaching a new “financial milestone” coincided with an interesting offer for donors.
Cloud Imperium Games studio presented the Anvil Odin ship, valued at ~5 thousand dollars. However, players do not yet have the opportunity to pilot it – this is an investment for the future:
The developers write in the announcement:
The Anvil Odin is being offered for the first time as a limited concept pledge package. This means that the ship is already in development but is not yet ready for use in Star Citizen. It will become available in one of the future patches. If you make a pledge purchase for the Anvil Odin, you will also receive a “loaner ship” for use in Star Citizen until the Anvil Odin is added to the game. As such a temporary ship, an already available in-game ship of similar size and/or purpose will be provided – initially, this will be the Aegis Idris-P. We reserve the right to update the list of loaner ships if more suitable options become available during development.
The Anvil Odin is designed for a crew of 33-65+ players, with dimensions – length 752m, width 222m, height 213m. The right to buy such a model still had to be earned, as acquiring the ship required joining the “Odin Founders Club”. Players needed to write an essay explaining “why you need the Anvil Odin”.
One of the lucky owners boasted that he “bought a JPEG for 5 thousand dollars”.
