Owlcat Showcases Augmentation System in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - Coming in The Infinite Museion DLC

This summer, Owlcat Games will release The Infinite Museion, a story-driven DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, focusing on Necrons. Ahead of its release, they are gradually revealing different aspects of the DLC and recently presented a first look at the augmentation system.

Owners of the DLC will be able to access this system through a new voidship compartment. Augmentations are positioned as a new layer of character progression:

From a gameplay perspective, "Augments" in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader are a new special class of items that can be found throughout the Koronus Expanse and implanted into characters.

Typically, each of them contains up to three unique effects:

• A large positive effect that provides a significant advantage in combat, changes the character's standard gameplay, or allows them to use new abilities.
• A tangible negative effect that acts as a counterbalance to the positive one, forcing the player to adapt their tactics to its presence.
• A compromise effect that provides something useful in exchange for a negative effect. Not all augments have such an option.

In total, the game will have 6 main augment slots – two for the head and arms, and one each for the legs and torso.

The developers clarified that not all companions are ready for such changes, but many "will gladly accept the blessing of the Machine God":
