Developers are preparing a lot of new content for The Witcher 3.

CD Projekt RED recently announced a new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It is titled Songs of the Past.

During a special stream, the developers noted that the scale of “Songs of the Past” is comparable to the “Blood and Wine” expansion (on average, players spent 15 hours to complete the main story, and mastering all content could take 40+ hours). They also clarified that they are preparing an “expansion” rather than a DLC.

The plot will be somehow connected to Belleteyn. This holiday in The Witcher universe “marks the beginning of Blath, the fifth month in the elven calendar.” The developers have not yet revealed the details. However, it is known that new content will include Gwent cards.

From a recent financial report, it became known that the cumulative sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have reached 65 million copies. In addition, CD Projekt RED presented a breakdown of employees — the company has a total of 975 developers, and most of them (513) are working on The Witcher 4, while 163 are working on the new Cyberpunk.

The release of the Songs of the Past expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is expected in 2027. Details are promised to be shared this summer — the developers will participate in the Gamescom exhibition, which will take place at the end of August.

CDPR still plans to implement cross-platform mod support for The Witcher 3 (it was originally intended to be released last year, but then postponed until 2026).
