The recent announcement of the production of Russian voice acting for the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion by GamesVoice raised many questions among gamers. First, the localizers stated that "Developer representatives publicly confirmed that our activities do not violate their fan-creation agreements," and then a CD Projekt RED representative re-confirmed the company's old position — it had not given permission for this voice acting.

GamesVoice studio published an appeal to the community and stated that they had not yet received any claims or requests from the copyright holder. The localizers also clarified: they did not state that they "received approval from CDPR," and CDPR did not state that it forbade GamesVoice from doing voice acting:

Exactly what was said was said — there's no need to overthink, thereby distorting the facts. We can confirm the participation of the previous voice actors for Johnny Silverhand and both V in the project. Of course, the actors are aware of the situation and are ready to work even without any approvals.

The localizers asked not to attack CD Projekt RED's social media and added:

Our goal: to create a dub, not to prove the dissenters wrong. The best way to shut down detractors is to quickly and successfully close the fundraiser.

GamesVoice also published a large manifesto to CD Projekt RED. The localizers emphasized that their interest in creating the voice acting is to ensure that the Russian-speaking community from all over the world receives a high-quality dub of the expansion:

Whatever the future events may be, we are unlikely to abandon our plans. If the fundraiser is closed or suspended for one reason or another, we will turn to private investors or find another funding model. But the final word is yours, one way or another. For example, we are ready to curtail this initiative if the voice acting for "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty" is officially released.

GamesVoice also noted that the team is open to any forms of cooperation that do not involve stopping work on the project, including the transfer of localization rights:

We are ready to consult on ensuring that no inappropriate materials that could harm the reputation are included in the localization. We are ready to provide all recorded materials, as well as the rights to them.
