1C Game Studios continues to share updates on "Koreya. Il-2 Game Series." Recently, the developers published a new dev diary and trailer in anticipation of the game's upcoming "early access" launch.
The developers stated that they have implemented an "unprecedentedly broad and flexible" system for displaying aircraft flight parameters and systems in the graphical interface (HUD) to help newcomers master the aircraft:
The graphical interface is implemented using fundamentally new technologies, and its design approaches were developed from scratch, incorporating all modern experience from the gaming industry. At the same time, it was important to keep the in-game interface familiar to a huge segment of "Great Battles" players. After all, during flight, and especially in combat, it is crucial to spend as little time as possible mastering it.
The creators of "Koreya. Il-2 Game Series" studied past experiences and decided to develop a solution that "will combine the best aspects of the approaches of the two previous generations [of the studio's games] and will be free from their main drawbacks." Each instrument will have "large" and "compact" versions, the developers will implement a special fuel remaining indicator, refine the element for displaying remaining weaponry, and more.
During the HUD design process, the developers realized that for a large number of players, it would be inconvenient to constantly rearrange instruments for the type of missions they were about to perform. Therefore, they decided to add the ability to create three HUD instrument layouts with the option to quickly switch between them using a hotkey. The composition of instruments will automatically change depending on the aircraft; for example, on a jet model, indicators for mixture and propeller pitch lever positions, boost pressure, and supercharger stage are not needed.
