Recently, a modder known as Julian Uccetta published a gameplay demonstration of the Fallout 3: Unreal – Remastered project. It ports the Bethesda game to the modern Unreal Engine 5.

The modder clarified that this is a "very early, heavily bugged" playtest of the Fallout 3 remaster, using UE 5.7. The remaster is being created using a plugin system he called "Gamebryo Unreal."

The idea is that the system will allow easy porting of any Bethesda Gamebryo games to Unreal Engine "from Morrowind to Fallout: New Vegas (and in the future, Skyrim: LE and Fallout 4) – it will be enough to simply open the project and specify the path to the game data."

Creating projects like Fallout 3 on Unreal Engine 5 comes with copyright challenges, but the modder found a solution. He plans to distribute not a "ready-made remaster," but to offer players tools for self-"assembly" of the remaster:

The full Fallout 3: Unreal project will not be released publicly – instead, tools and a basic (scaffold) project with updated assets will be published, allowing users to assemble the game themselves in a few clicks.

Julian Uccetta's video is available at the following link.
