Recently, Wube Software, the studio behind the factory building simulator Factorio, announced that the upcoming 2.1 update would be the "last" major update. An entire era is coming to an end — the project has been actively developed for over 10 years.
John "Bucky" Buckley, the communications and publishing manager at Pocket Pair (creators of Palworld), noticed the developer's message and decided to comment on social media.
According to Bucky, Factorio played a crucial role in shaping the Steam that players know today:
Factorio, arguably one of the most influential games ever released on Steam, will be ending "active gameplay development" after 13 incredible years. I can't imagine how different the Steam gaming landscape would be without Factorio. Thank you for creating this incredible game!
The creators of Factorio plan to release the 2.1 update in "experimental" mode soon, and it will remain in this status throughout the summer. The developers will focus on long-term support for the game (fixing bugs, etc.).
