Gothic 1 Remake was recently released on consoles and PC via Steam. Soon after, hackers announced they had cracked the game's protection.
THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive did not use the well-known Denuvo DRM, and tech enthusiasts have long learned how to deal with standard Steam protection – no "hypervisor" is required for this.
However, this crack of Gothic 1 Remake clearly did not hinder the project's success. This weekend, the peak online player count exceeded 60,000. For publisher THQ Nordic, this release is among the most successful in terms of online players:
- REMNANT II — 110,856 players
- Gothic 1 Remake — 62,597
- BIOMUTANT — 55,048
- Remnant: From the Ashes — 48,289
- Titan Quest II — 27,099
