Capcom recently confirmed long-standing rumors and insights regarding the developers of the Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake. The project indeed exists and will be released in the foreseeable future.
The remake was named "Resident Evil Veronica" and in the debut trailer, players saw the main character Claire Redfield. Some users were confused by the girl's appearance, and a theory arose that Capcom decided to use a different model for the new installment of the franchise. Opinions began to be expressed online that the girl now looks "unrealistic" and "looks like she went straight from Raccoon City to a clinic for Botox injections."
However, Resident Evil fans conducted a comparison and concluded that the model is still Jordan McEwen:
Blissrunner believes that such a reaction to Claire's face may be related to the development of the RE Engine:
The RE9 engine better handles mocap (facial expression capture), HD skin textures, and contours. This is a leap compared to the Resident Evil 2 remake… forehead, eyelids, under-eye bags, and perhaps fuller lips? Newer/larger [face] boundaries, cracked lip textures, and more pronounced upper lip folds.
SlymoDF also reminded that, in general, character design changes are common for the Resident Evil franchise:
