Before the "XBOX Games Showcase 2026" presentation, rumors began circulating online that Gears of War: E-Day would not be released on PlayStation 5 consoles. Now, the show has confirmed that the shooter is a console exclusive.
The Coalition studio conducted an extended gameplay demonstration of Gears of War: E-Day. From a chronological perspective, this installment of the franchise will be a prequel:
Experience the horror and brutality of E-Day. Go back fourteen years before the events of the original Gears of War to join Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in a thrilling campaign that tells the story of how the Locust Horde first emerges from underground, and engage in a desperate fight for survival.
Players in Gears of War: E-Day will be offered not only a campaign but also a new version of the PvE mode Gears of War: Horde Siege, as well as an improved PvP mode Versus. The game is being developed on the modern Unreal Engine 5.
You can add Gears of War: E-Day to your Steam wishlist via this link. The release is expected on October 6, 2026 – on PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Owners of the Premium Edition for $100 will receive five days of early access.
