The new heroine definitely managed to attract attention. Some people are very concerned about her appearance.

Recently, Shift Up studio announced the game Stellar Blade: Blood Rain. Gamers were introduced to the new heroine, Eve.

The girl looks very young, which raised questions among some online users about her age and sparked a discussion about the appropriateness of using such an image in a video game.

Shift Up boss Kim Hyung Tae spoke with Inven Global and explained the developers' vision. They intentionally made Eve shorter and slightly younger in appearance, but at the same time "tried to make her fight very fiercely and give the impression of a stylish, 'cool' character."

Kim Hyung Tae said that when working on the original Stellar Blade, he struggled to decide whether to define the heroine's character. The players' reaction convinced him that they could love even a character with a personality, so they would work on this aspect more thoroughly:

When creating the first game, I struggled with Eve's image – in particular, I couldn't decide whether to leave her as a "blank slate" for player empathy or give her a distinct personality. Seeing the reaction of gamers who played the first part, I realized that they are capable of fully immersing themselves even in a character with a strong, clearly defined personality. Therefore, this time we are making [the heroine] even more developed as a person.

The Shift Up boss also stated that the combat system is evolving in such a way that the game can be completed using only melee combat:

The main difference is that the character's power has become significantly more impressive, and each weapon and stance has immense depth. We are developing the system to offer deeper gameplay through stance changes and combos.
