Gears of War: E-Day Was Prepared for PS5 Release - Leak Revealed Canceled Xbox Plan

Xbox almost considered releasing Gears of War: E-Day on PlayStation 5 until the very end, but the project was canceled at the last minute.

A leak from a deleted fragment of an Xbox podcast showed the PS5 logo, indicating preparation for a version for Sony's console. The PS5 logo was also noticed in the video, and earlier the game underwent PEGI classification and appeared in store databases – this suggests a high degree of readiness of the project.

Ultimately, Microsoft made the game an Xbox exclusive. However, in a recent Xbox podcast, the PS5 logo mistakenly remained on promotional materials. This was reported on X by journalist Tom Warren.

Amidst the discussions, Head of Marketing Aaron Greenberg stated that the version was not canceled "at the last minute," the decision was made earlier and known to a narrow internal circle, and the announcement was planned for later. However, the leak and traces in databases still create the impression that the PS5 version was practically ready.
