The events unfold 15 years before the previous installments. The project no longer features hordes of rats, stealth, or the main characters of the series, Amicia and Hugo. The setting has moved from France to sunny Crete, and the central character is the smuggler Sophia, known from Requiem.
The combat system made the biggest impression. Sophia is an experienced warrior, so players will actively use parries, dodges, guard breaks, and dagger finishers. The heroine will also have a grappling hook and a small skill tree. The combat feels reminiscent of Soulslike, Ghost of Tsushima, and the Batman Arkham series.
The plot is built around two timelines and the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. While exploring ruins, Sophia's consciousness is transferred into Theseus's body, allowing her to see the same places thousands of years ago during their heyday.
Players can expect platforming episodes and puzzles inspired by Uncharted and Tomb Raider. Journalists particularly praised the puzzles, which require attentiveness and the use of a journal. Despite some texture issues in the PC version, the visuals, architecture, lighting, and sound left a strong impression.
