Shipments of discrete graphics cards decreased by 0.6% over the quarter, totaling 11.8 million units. The desktop processor market was hit harder: shipments fell to 15.7 million chips. This is 24% less than the previous quarter and 25% lower than a year ago.
NVIDIA remains the leader in the discrete graphics market with a 90% share. AMD holds 8%, and Intel controls about 1%. NVIDIA and AMD recorded a decline in shipments, while Intel showed slight growth.
Manufacturers primarily released updated versions of existing products. AMD introduced the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, Intel expanded its Arc Pro lineup with two models, and NVIDIA brought some older graphics cards back to sale.
The share of desktop PCs with discrete graphics grew to 76%, but the long-term outlook remains negative. Analysts expect an average annual market decline of 3.3% until 2029.
The next generation of gaming graphics cards, including the RTX 60, is not expected before 2028. One of the main factors remains memory availability, which determines the timing of mass production of new devices.
