Windows Central journalists continue to report on the internal situation at Xbox. They recently published an article detailing the unsuccessful projects of internal studios and more.

According to available data, games like Avowed, Keeper, Kiln, South of Midnight, Hellblade 2, Forza Motorsport (not to be confused with the Horizon series), and The Outer Worlds 2 did not meet Microsoft's expected metrics — either in terms of net sales on third-party platforms or user engagement and retention within the Xbox Game Pass subscription.

Partner games — Minecraft Legends, Ninja Gaiden 4, Minecraft Earth, Bleeding Edge, Battletoads, Towerborne, Ara: History Untold — also failed to meet Microsoft's expectations.

Xbox also has major successes, such as projects based on well-known franchises — Age of Empires, Flight Simulator, and Forza Horizon, as well as Sea of Thieves, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and Grounded. However, the journalist notes that "a significant portion of the profits from these projects was, at least partially, 'eaten up' by failures."

Windows Central reminded that Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball outlined an intention to focus on major flagship franchises, and also noted that "Microsoft is unhappy with the absence of a new Fallout installment," which could potentially be released following the success of the eponymous TV series.
