Playground Games explained the Fable delay to 2027
Microsoft confirmed the Fable delay. Playground Games head Ralph Fulton said the decision was initially a "huge disappointment" for the team.
The developers saw an important advantage in the delay — the opportunity to avoid a direct clash with Grand Theft Auto VI.
Initially, the RPG was planned for release in late 2026. According to Playground Games head Ralph Fulton, the studio had been working under intense pressure for a long time to meet the deadline, so the news of the delay was difficult for the team.
Later, the developers concluded that releasing Fable alongside GTA VI could deprive the game of media and player attention. The release is now scheduled for February 2027, so that the project gets more space in the information field.
Many publishers and studios are currently trying to avoid competition with GTA VI. Because of this, releases have actively shifted to autumn 2026 and early 2027, leading to a packed schedule of major premieres.
Ralph Fulton believes that the February window will allow Fable to "fully shine." However, much will depend on the quality of the game itself.
