The new project by one of the development leads of The Last of Us and Uncharted 4, Bruce Straley, titled Coven of the Chicken Foot, was almost shut down after Microsoft ceased funding.

According to former Naughty Dog employee Quentin Cobb, the situation was saved only thanks to a trailer, which helped find new investors.

In an interview with Kiwi Talkz, Cobb said that Straley's studio, Wildflower Interactive, was funded by Microsoft.

It was funded by Microsoft. On July 2, 2025, the same day I was laid off, funding for his game was cut.

This refers to the puzzle game Coven of the Chicken Foot. The decision coincided with a massive wave of layoffs at Microsoft, when the company laid off about 9,000 employees, many of whom worked in Xbox divisions.

According to Cobb, for several months the team believed the project was over.

For several months they thought it was over. It was game over because of July 2.

The situation changed with the trailer's showing at The Game Awards. After that, the project attracted new funding sources, and development continued.

Currently, Coven of the Chicken Foot has no release date, but work on the game continues.
