Director Michael Sarnoski, known for "A Quiet Place: Day One" and "Robin Hood: Origins," noted that Death Stranding is very different from his last project, where the level of violence was significantly higher.

Violence will remain in the film, as the game's world is full of dangers and death, but it will serve a different function.

According to the director, action and violence are primarily needed to reveal the world and its rules. He also ironically added that there would be no "jaw-ripping" scenes in the film.

The script is already in its second version. Filming is planned to begin in 2027 in Iceland and Northern Ireland.

The film will not be an adaptation of Sam Porter Bridges' story. Sarnoski is creating a separate plot within the Death Stranding universe, but with familiar characters.

The project is being developed by A24 and Kojima Productions. Hideo Kojima emphasizes that it will not be a classic adaptation.

An adult animated film in the same universe is being prepared in parallel. Aaron Guzikowski is responsible for it.
