In an interview, Housemarque co-founder and head Ilari Kuittinen admitted that the initial sales of Saros were not very impressive. This does not mean that the project did not meet the studio's expectations.

Kuittinen believes that Housemarque is now in a position similar to where FromSoftware once was. The Japanese company developed its own ideas for a long time and gradually built up an audience of fans before the Souls series brought it worldwide fame thanks to Dark Souls and Elden Ring.

The studio notes that Returnal and Saros are unusual projects that do not follow the most popular market trends. Therefore, it takes time for players to appreciate this style of gameplay.

As a reason for optimism, Housemarque cites the example of Returnal. After its release, the game also did not achieve immediate commercial success, but over time attracted a large audience. The studio expects Saros to be able to follow the same path thanks to positive player reviews.

The developers are not going to abandon support for the project. The team is studying community feedback and considering updates, fixes, and additional content. According to Kuittinen, Saros still has great potential for development.
