A game for 73 thousand rubles found on Steam - its developer philosophizes and "congratulates" buyers

It seems that the luxurious offer did not attract wealthy buyers.

Steam releases a variety of games, including some very specific ones. Some content creators try to profit from collectors and offer dubious projects with a high price tag.

Recently, a user under the nickname ContaSoParaEspionar drew the attention of the Steam community to one such specific release. The developer Minimum Viable Prestige and publisher Worth It Studio presented a project with a telling title — Congratulations On Your Purchase.

The new product was priced at $999 or 73 thousand rubles in the Russian segment, and its description calls it "the most expensive game on Steam" and emphasizes that such a price "is not a mistake, that's the whole point."

The page also includes a mini-discussion about "value":

The question of whether this project is worth $999.99 is philosophically unanswerable. Value is a construct. Price is arbitrary. The fact that you are reading this means you are already considering it - which means for you, the answer may already be "yes, it's worth it."

The published screenshots show a "palace" with a red carpet and NPCs:

The description of Congratulations On Your Purchase also notes that AI technologies were not used in its development; they were only used for marketing materials:

Some of the images on the store page for this game were created using generative AI tools. The game itself does not use or generate AI content during operation.

According to SteamDB data, only one person played the project on its release day. It is assumed that this could have been the developer himself.

Discussion participants recalled that something similar happened before in the App Store when the $100 app I Am Rich was released - so that buyers could show it off.
