Sony has become more active in combating low-quality games in the PlayStation Store. The company has tightened content publishing rules, and some projects have already begun to disappear from the digital store.
The changes were announced by Afil Games studio, known for a large number of simple games like Collie Call and Cute Bonfire. Sony has introduced stricter requirements for new releases. As a result, the studio's future projects will no longer be released on PS5.
The changes don't stop there. Afil Games confirmed that all of its games will eventually be removed from the PS Store. This refers to more than 900 titles.
It seems Sony aims to reduce the number of "junk" games created for quick trophy acquisition. Such projects used identical mechanics, ready-made assets, and minimal changes, making the new releases section increasingly inconvenient.
Sony's decision was positively received by part of the community. Players have long complained about the abundance of low-quality projects, which made it difficult to find interesting new releases and indie games.
Afil Games will continue to release its games on Xbox, the Microsoft Store, and Nintendo Switch.
